Women-Owned Wednesday with Cultured Card Co.

September 11, 2019

Sarah, owner of Cultured Card Co., is absolutely one of the sweetest people you will ever meet and we're super lucky to have her here for this week's women-owned Wednesday. BEST of all, it's her birthday this week (so go show her some love)!

I met Sarah at some local Sacramento maker events and fell heavily for her beautiful handcrafted cards. From notes that are sappy and sentimental to those that are supremely funny and witty, she carries something for everyone. One of my absolute favorite items is a gender reveal party banner that boldly says: HERE FOR THE SEX - her sense of humor and lightheartedness carries through each piece she makes.

I hope you enjoy getting to know a little bit more about Sarah today!

Trust in what makes your product/small business uniquely yours

How did you get started with your business?

Five years ago I made thank you cards for my bridal shower to save some money and have a little fun.  I found a lot of joy in making them and began creating cards for family and friends as a hobby.

In 2016 I decided to open an Etsy shop and quickly realized it required a lot more effort than just posting pictures of my items for sale and crossing my fingers.  In 2017 I made my small business official and began my journey as Cultured Card Co.

What do you enjoy most about being a small business owner?

I enjoy being a part of the local maker community and having the opportunity to meet customers face-to-face at events.  I love knowing that my creations help others celebrate life's most happy and heartfelt moments.

What’s the hardest thing about being a small business owner?

Managing the "non-creative" small business tasks like tracking sales and paying taxes (yay).

What's the best advice you have for women who are just starting out?

Trust in what makes your product/small business uniquely yours.  It may not be everyone's cup of tea, and that's okay!

What is one skill you have that unexpectedly benefited you in your line of work?

I've always enjoyed making lists in both my personal and work life.  Breaking down a big custom order or project into a manageable to-do list makes a seemingly impossible task feel a lot less daunting.

Be sure to check out Cultured Card Co. on instagram and etsy for information on her next pop up event or to see some really cute behind the scenes peeks. Thanks for joining us today, Sarah!
